Please be advised that work to upgrade the campus fire alarm panels will begin on May 18. This campus-wide project will integrate the existing fire alarm system into the new system.

During the upgrade process, both the old and new systems will be operating and monitored simultaneously to ensure continued fire alarm coverage and safety.

The project is expected to take approximately 10 working days to complete. Contractors and Facilities personnel may be present in buildings throughout campus during this time.

FAC

Please be advised that Monument Roofing will begin a roofing project at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) starting Monday, May 18. This work is necessary to maintain the integrity of the building and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

The project is anticipated to continue through early August. We will continue to share updates throughout the duration of the project as information becomes available.

What to Expect:
• Roofing activity in designated areas around the building
• Traffic control on West Dale Street for trucking and crane activity
• Intermittent noise and minor disruptions during work hours, approximately 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Temporary restrictions to some entrances, walkways, or parking areas for safety purposes

Safety Reminders:
• Please follow all posted signage and instructions from construction personnel
• Avoid restricted areas and remain clear of work zones
• Report any safety concerns to Facilities immediately

Ameri Dri currently has drying equipment in place to assist with water mitigation efforts. Jimenez Drywall is expected to begin reconstruction work shortly.

West Campus Parking Lots

Please be advised that asphalt repairs and maintenance will begin in the west campus parking lot on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and will continue until complete, weather permitting.

Work will be completed in phases to minimize disruption; however, temporary parking lot closures and limited access should be expected. Typical work hours will be 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., though some activities may extend beyond these hours if needed.

Closed areas will be marked with signage.

  • Alternate parking will be available at:
    • Tutt Library Parking Lot
    • Additional areas approved by Parking Services
  • Pedestrian access will remain open; please follow designated walkways and posted signage.
  • Please allow extra time for parking and arrival during this project.

East Campus Resident Buildings

We would like to inform you that a lightning strike on April 27 impacted portions of the East Campus heating and cooling system, as well as the fire alarm system.

Please note that the fire suppression system was not affected and continues to function as expected.

Our teams are actively working to assess the damage and restore the affected systems as quickly as possible.

Armstrong Hall

The heating system in Armstrong Hall is still out of service due to emergency repairs to the building’s hot water system.

Repairs are ongoing, and full heating service has not yet been restored.

With colder weather expected on Wednesday, May 6, temporary measures are being implemented to help maintain a comfortable indoor environment. Facilities staff will continue to monitor conditions in Armstrong throughout the day.

Please be advised that several spaces in Packard Hall were impacted by a flood.

 The following rooms are currently off limits except for authorized personnel:
Rooms 131, 132, 201, 202, 301, and 302.

The basement area and room 203 are functional and accessible.

 Access can be coordinated as needed through EHS (Luke Scott).

 AmeriDri, ARS, and CRDN are onsite to perform remediation work.

 At this time, there is no estimated completion date.

El Diente

EHS responded to a reported flood in Unit #103 and identified a severe sewage backup originating from the kitchen sink. The incident impacted the entire first floor of the unit.

 Immediate mitigation actions are underway and include:

  • Olson Plumbing has cleared the main line and resolved the blockage.
  • AmeriDri has completed sewage extraction and sanitation.
  • Controlled demolition began on December 19, 2025, to remove porous and contaminated materials.

 Due to the nature of this Category 3 (black water) intrusion, all drywall on the first floor is being removed to a 4-foot level, along with affected basement ceiling materials. All first-floor contents, including cabinetry, furniture, carpet, and major appliances, are considered a total loss and will be disposed of. Access to the second floor is currently restricted to prevent cross-contamination.

Unit #103 will remain offline indefinitely.

 There is no estimated timeline for return to service at this time.

Further updates will be provided as remediation progresses.

 Thank you for your cooperation in limiting access to the space.
