The is generously funding the Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø because they believe in the importance of partnering with the local community to inform and engage students in philanthropy and giving, nonprofit leadership, and board governance.
Public Interest Fellowship Program (PIFP)
Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø partners with the Public Interest Fellowship Program (PIFP) by providing volunteer and work experiences for students in the nonprofit sector. PIFP ensures that our students help fill leadership and employment gaps in Colorado nonprofits. Partner organizations gain access to committed, idealistic, and energetic candidates who have studied on ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's Block Plan, allowing our students and graduates tackle single projects quickly and intensively both individually and in teams to develop solutions on short deadlines.
Fountain Creek Watershed District's Creek Week Steering Committee
Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø works closely with to teach students about nonprofit leadership, philanthropy and giving, and board governance. Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø has filled 5 board of directors seats on the Steering Committee with ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø students: Maddie, Maitland, Katie, Jennifer and James. These student board members will organize and execute a week of action in the Fall.
YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region
The Advisory Board for our local YMCA has partnered with us to hire yet another volunteer board member: Maddi. Maddi is heavily involved in the philanthropic aspects of the downtown area YMCA and is currently involved in a month-long campaign that supports the future accessible building in Colorado Springs. She is involved in a subcommittee as well, and is a frequent volunteer at the local YMCA through her board service.
Mountain Song Community School
The Mountain Song Community School has hired two more ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø students: Laurel, a current undergraduate, and Jamyoung, a current MAT candidate. These two remarkable students are learning official board lingo, policies, and procedures while navigating a huge change that the school is undertaking: moving the school building to a new location. They are learning daily that board service is a roller coaster of impact, fun, and growth.
State of the Rockies Project
The State of the Rockies Project enhances understanding of and action to address socio-environmental challenges in the Rocky Mountain West through collaborative student-faculty research, education, and stakeholder engagement. Currently, the State of the Rockies project is focusing on urbanization and nature in the front front range. Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø is partnering with the State of the Rockies project by giving ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø students opportunities to volunteer and work with nonprofit organizations that focus on urbanization, nature, and climate change in the Pikes Peak region.
Collaborative for Community Engagement
The Collaborative for Community Engagement (ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍøE) works with faculty, staff, and communities beyond the campus, co-creating community-engaged learning experiences to develop students into engaged citizens who invest their liberal arts education in the public good. Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø is partnering with the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍøE by integrating the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍøE's learning opportunities related to the nonprofit sector and by collaborating with the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍøE on the High Impact Partnership initiative.
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Summer Session
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's Summer Session creates opportunities for ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø undergraduates and visiting undergraduates from other schools to participate in courses during the summer. ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's Summer Session also invites ambitious rising high school juniors and seniors to participate in specific undergraduate blocks or in the specially designed Pre-College Block. Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø is partnering with ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's Summer Session to create a Pre-College Block for high school students who are interested in philanthropy and giving, nonprofit leadership, and nonprofit board governance.
Excellence in Giving
(EiG) is a full-service philanthropic advisory firm designed to increase the joy of the high-capacity donor through a personalized process of discovery, evaluation, participation, and celebration. Through the EiG process, philanthropists are able to give confidently and maximize the impact of their philanthropy. Nonprofit Initiatives at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø is working with Laura Blackburn at EiG to generate ideas and opportunities for ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's students to learn about and engage in philanthropy and giving.
